When it comes to prison art education, theory and practice in European countries are at different levels of progress. Specially tailored training concepts do not exist. At the best, prison inmates are given the opportunity to follow basic art classes on a frequent base.
In most prisons additional training offers are considered to be useful, e.g. to support resocialisation. In the past hardly any attention was paid to learning possibilities through the arts, which could open up new resources and perspectives. The project Partners in Crime Prevention sets off from experiences made by prison teachers and artist working with disabled groups. We will plan, execute, accompany and evaluate new possibilities of learning through the arts in prisons.
